PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Thyristor-switched automatic power factor correction systems offer distinct advantages over conventional contactor-based switching. In these systems, capacitors are switched at “Zero” cross over, allowing switching even under fully charged conditions.
This type of switching prevents the heavy inrush currents that typically occur when capacitors are switched ON through contactors, significantly improving capacitor life. Conventional contactor systems require a minimum delay of 60 seconds (or 600 seconds for HV capacitors) between operations to allow discharge, making them unsuitable for fast or highly variable loads.
The circuitry involved in thyristor switching is complex, but Udeet Electricals has developed and perfected this technology using fully indigenous, in-house expertise. All systems are simple to maintain, with most servicing manageable by a trained electrician, while HV systems and SVCs require skilled engineering support.
